Select Jack R. Sisson Bursary Fund

The Jack R. Sisson Bursary Fund was established in 2014 by former Quinte Secondary School students in conjunction with the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, Q.S.S. and the County Community Foundation. The purpose of the bursary is to recognize the exemplary contributions of this former Teacher, Coach and high school Principal who devoted more than 30 years to the students of the HPEDSB.  In particular, it is to honour Jack's significant support and contributions to the growth and development of athletics at both the local and provincial levels.

The Jack R. Sisson Bursary Fund will award annually:  two bursaries, one each to a female and male student graduating from QSS. To be eligible, the student must be proceeding to post-secondary education at a college or university in Canada and the student must have attended QSS for at least one full year prior to graduation and have financial need.  The bursary will be awarded to students who are talented athletes and academically capable.  In addition, the criteria for selection includes the following qualities: contributed to school life, related well with fellow students and teachers, honesty, demonstrated leadership, displayed sense of fair play and team spirit.  Application forms are available from the Guidance Department at QSS and online at the QSS web site. The deadline for completed applications is April 30 of each calendar year.  The successful recipients will be notified before the end of June and the presentations will be made at the school's graduation ceremonies by Jack or a member of his family.

The Jack R. Sisson Bursary Fund is managed and administered by the County Community Foundation under the guidance of the Jack R. Sisson Bursary Committee. The C.C.F. is a registered charity (No. 84349629RR0001) established to receive, invest and disburse funds to charitable organizations similar to the other 190 community foundations operating in Canada.  Since the fund was created to qualify for income tax deduction purposes, the C.C.F. will issue income tax receipts to the full name and address on the donation cheque or online credit credit card information.

Jack is well known as a coach, an advisor and as a mentor to countless student-athletes, many of whom went on to become successful lawyers, engineers, medical doctors, business men and women, and teachers. Their testimonials to this remarkable man attest to the positive impact his influence had in their lives while at QSS and later in their chosen careers.
