Parent Support Package
This package includes parent support materials that can be used to help your son or daughter experience success on the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT), have less test anxiety, and help them become familiar with the test format. Please read the quick facts sheet that includes some FAQs and provides contact information. The following links also contain reading and materials to help you get started.
Sample Booklet - This is an actual test booklet from EQAO and can be used for practice.
These materials are provided by the Ministry. The links below contain sample answers (exemplars) as well as important information for students who will be writing the test this spring.
Support Materials from Quinte Secondary School
The following materials were created by the Quinte Literacy team. They are simple guides to the various writing styles, writing checklists, and exemplars.
Literacy at Quinte - steps students will take to success
Grade 9 students write a diagnostic test to determine areas of strength and weakness - supports may be put in place before the student reaches grade ten
Grade 10 students write a more in-depth practice test to determine which students need extra supports or accommodations
If support is required, a student may be invited to participate in the after school literacy program
Students may be pulled out of regular classes for a period for literacy support in the weeks prior to the test

After School Literacy Program
The after school literacy program is underway. The teacher of the program is Ms. Maria Clements. The program runs at Quinte Secondary School on Thursdays, from 3:00 -5:00pm.
